Here are a few articles from my collection about cemetery nuptials. The first clipping is my favorite, describing the circumstances surrounding Henry Burbank and Sadie King’s courtship. After the 1876 Brooklyn theater fire, Henry Burbank wrote to an undertaker seeking information about relatives that died in the tragedy. The undertaker’s niece, Sadie, responded and the two kept in touch over the years. When Henry asked for Sadie’s hand in marriage she suggested that they hold the ceremony in Greenwood Cemetery near the monument for those who died in the fire because it was through that event that the two met. (I think it’s romantic.)
